The most stable version I have used is Maya 2018.1 and Maya 2020.2. Autodesk offers two versions Maya and Maya LT. Maya LT is stripped down version of Maya, designed for Indie Game Makers and costs lesser than the full-blown version.

TLDR: Maya’s user interface is incredibly poor quality, Autodesk put no effort into the UX and AFAICT the only reason people use it is because it’s been around for so long. Maya seems ridiculous as you learn it, and there do seem to be a lot of dumb things you need to “work around”. I’ve been using Maya since v7.
